Lead and Trad Climbing Courses
Becoming a competent and confident trad lead climber really opens up the world of climbing. Once you have mastered the skills of leading you will be able to climbing throughout the world!
The feeling of taking responsibility and managing your own safety and climbing is deeply rewarding and addictive. I can help you achieve this goal through the following lead climbing courses.
1-day Introduction to Trad Lead Climbing
Designed for indoor climbers and those who have learned the fundamental skills of top-rope climbing outside, this course will give you a taste of the new skills you will need to start lead climbing outdoors. The key skills covered will be – lead-belaying, placing and clipping protection, and belay building. Those already leading indoors will most likely find themselves on the sharp end by the end of the day!
Courses available for 2 to 4 people.
2-day Learn to Lead Trad Climbing
If you are certain you want to learn to lead trad-climbing this is the course I recommend. Two consecutive days means we can really immerse ourselves in learning to place gear, build anchors and belays while climbing smoothly and confidently. Ideally suited to a pair of climbers with similar goals.
Courses available for 2 to 4 people depending on venue.

Rock Skills
If you are part of the Rock Skills Scheme then you should consider joining us for a Rock Skills Learn to Lead Sport or Rock Skills Learn to Lead Trad. These courses will teach you all the fundamental skills of sport and trad climbing within a formal scheme with UK and Ireland Accreditation – particularly useful for those considering becoming an instructor.
